When to go to Iguazu Falls

When to go to Iguazu Falls

Iguazu Falls are the local name in Argentina for the renowned Iguassu Falls. This spectacular waterfall system is comprised of approximately 275 different falls. Although the falls can be experienced in either Brazil or Argentina, the majority of the falls actually occur on the Argentinean side. The Argentinean side of the falls and surrounded areas are protected by Iguazu National Park with the Brazilian, Iguacu National Park serving the neighboring side of the falls. When Lady Roosevelt first witnessed the falls her response was, “Poor Niagara.” This article explores the best times to explore the Argentinean side of the falls. If you are looking for more information about the Brazilian side of the falls, please explore the When To Go to Iguassu Falls article. When to go to Iguazu Falls Visitors will report that the better time to visit the falls depends on your focus. Some travelers like to go when water levels are higher. People that enjoy the outdoors often like to go during the shoulder season when water levels are a little lower and they have more access to trails, the island, and activities. My recommendation for visiting the falls is when you will have a greater chance for blue skies and comfortable weather. Although the falls are not at their peak, you will still find them impressive. The rock faces peeking through the falls create more photographic scenes. These months would include March, parts of April, and August or September. When to go to Iguazu Falls: Weather Iguazu Falls are not too far from the equator making it a tropical area. This means that the weather is mostly accessible year-round. Although the temperatures do change, the most important question is about rainy and dry seasons. December, January, and February represent the period where the longest and heavier rains occur. The good news is that this makes the falls more impressive with greater volume. These water levels may close access to San Martin Island. You may also discover that the rains have closed trails. Of course, the rainy seasons means you just might experience cloudy skies. The hottest time of the year occurs during the summer months running from December through March. These higher temperatures bring more humidity. The high temperatures will be around 90°F with the lows dropping down to the mid-70s. This is the best time to go if you want to get into the falls and get wet. Driving the boats into the falls is exhilarating and provides visitors with a sense of the power of the falls. The pro is a good time to get wet with the con being a chance for trails and activities being closed. April through most of June represents the dry season. This means that you have a good chance of seeing the falls under blue skies. Although water levels could be lower, the weather creates a great environment. If the levels get to low, the falls may lose their mystique and majestic nature. Less humidity will follow the cooler temperatures that come with the winter months of June, July and August. Here the highs will be in the mid-70s and the lows may drop down to 50°F. The recommended time to explore Iguazu Falls considering the weather is probably during March, parts of April, August, and September....

When to go to Iguassu Falls

When to go to Iguassu Falls

Iguassu Falls is the international name for the locally known Iguaçu Falls just outside of Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil.  Iguassu Falls is located on the border of Brazil and Argentina.  There are 275 different falls that make up the Iguassu Falls system. The falls can be experienced from either the Argentinean or Brazilian side.  Because the experiences are so different, it is easy to argue which side provides the best experience. Ideally you will have the time to explore the falls from both sides of the most comprehensive experience possible. In this article we are looking at the best times to explore the Brazilian side of Iguassu Falls. if you are looking for more information about the Argentinean side of the falls, please explore the When To Go to Iguazu Falls article. When to go to Iguassu Falls The best time to go to Iguassu Falls depends on your primary interests. Some prefer to go when the water is at its highest, whereas others prefer to go when they have more access to the activities and parts of the park. I believe the best time to visit the falls is when the weather is expected to be better even though the falls are not at their peak levels. I find that the falls are more aesthetically pleasing with rocks breaking through the water, particularly when there are bright blue skies in the background.  This also makes for the better photography.  These months would include March, parts of April, and August and September.   When to go to Iguassu Falls: Weather Iguassu Falls is mostly a tropical area providing fairly accessible whether year-round. Instead of summer, winter and fall thinking, most people talk about the rainy season versus the dry season when it comes to exploring Iguassu Falls. The heaviest rains occur during the months of December through February. This makes the water levels higher in the falls stronger with more volume of water. For some this is the most impressive time to come. However the higher water levels will keep you away from San Martin Island, and you may find other trails closed because of water damage. Another drawback is there is a greater chance for gray or cloudy skies. The higher water levels also create more missed making it challenging to see parts of the falls. The summer months of December through March represent the warmest time of the year. Because of the higher temperatures and all the water, the humidity can be really high. Temperatures range from about 73°F in the evening to 90°F during the day. If you’re taking one of the boat rides into the falls, these warmer temperatures can make getting wet more enjoyable. This is a fun activity and a great way to experience the falls so this is something to consider. The dry season runs from April and into June. The good news with this time of year is that the skies are usually blue. The potential drawback is lower water levels and less than impressive falls. The months from June through August are cooler with the temperatures ranging from 50°F in the evening to 73°F during the day. The good news is that the humidity is quite less. Although the rain is heavier during the months of December through February, these months expect rain as...

When to go to Tanzania

Tanzania is one of the best tourist destinations in all of Africa. The country is located in East Africa bordered by Kenya in the North in Zambia and Mozambique in the South. Tanzania is bordered by the Democratic Republic of the Congo on the west side and features a spectacular coastline along the Indian Ocean on the east. Tanzania is home to 3 of Africa’s 7 natural wonders including Mount Kilimanjaro, Ngorongoro Crater, and the Serengeti migration. Although the migration is a shared wonder with Kenya, the majority of the migration is experienced within the country. Another highlight of the country is the spectacular beaches of Zanzibar. When to go to Tanzania The best times to visit Tanzania occur during the months of January and February, and between the months of June, July, and August. Visitors will find that selecting one of these months for visiting Tanzania will deliver the best options for exploring almost any part of the country.   When to go to Tanzania: Weather Tanzania is near the equator which means that the temperatures only fluctuate a little. The coolest months are June, July, and August with daytime temperatures around 27 to 28°C. The warmest months occur from November through February where temperatures reach as high as 35°C. Tanzania does not experience discernible seasons like winter, spring, summer and fall. Instead visitors planning a trip to the country should consider the various rainy and dry seasons before choosing their months to come. The first rains, often referred to as the short rains, occur from mid-October to late December. The heavier and longer range occur during the months of March through May. It is quite possible that you will find a desired resort or area closed because of these heavier rains. Parks often limit what access you have in order to protect the roads of the park. The best dry seasons to explore Tanzania occur in January and February, and the months of June, July, and August. January and February 10 to be warmer which makes for a better climate to climb Mount Kilimanjaro and to explore the top rim of Ngorongoro Crater. The latter dry season is cooler making safaris in the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, or one of Tanzania’s other national parks a little more comfortable. The evenings during this part of the year can be a little cool and may warrant a light jacket.   When to go to Tanzania to climb Kilimanjaro Visitors connect trek up Kilimanjaro in either of the dry seasons but the best time to climb is probably during the months of January or February. The temperatures are little warmer making the upper elevations easier to enjoy. However please note, the summit can be freezing or below any time of year.   When to go to Tanzania for Safari Tanzania offers some the most spectacular encounters with wildlife through the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, or the Selous game reserve. The months of June, July, and August feature cooler days making a Safari outing more comfortable, but following the rains the water is plentiful which enables the wildlife to be more scattered throughout the parks. The dry season months of January and February following the short rains represent the best time to visit Tanzania for experiencing wildlife. This is the hottest time of...

When to go to Mount Kilimanjaro

Mount Kilimanjaro is an inactive strato-valcono located in Northern Tanzania.  The peak reaches a height of 19,340 feet (5,895 m) making it the tallest mountain in Africa.  Affectionately known as “the rooftop of Africa,” Mount Kilimanjaro is recognized as one of the 7 Natural Wonders of Africa. Tanzania is home to three of Africa’s natural wonders with Mount Kilimanjaro serving as the pinnacle wonder for Africa.  The mountain is protected as a national park and is easily a highlight of the national park system.  Some people are happy seeing the snow capped mountain, but there are many who inspire to climb this a mazing feat of nature.  So gear up and get ready to see and experience Africa’s tallest mountain. When to go to Mount Kilimanjaro Tanzania and Mount Kilimanjaro are located near the equator. This means that the temperature is fairly consistent throughout the year making the destination accessible year-round. The best time to visit this national park, see the mountain, or climb to the summit does vary.  The dry seasons that include the months of January and February and June through August are the target times to go to Mount Kilimanjaro.   When to go to Climb Mount Kilimanjaro Although the temperatures do not vary dramatically, there are seasons that represent a better time to climb. January and February are the two warmest months making the climb most comfortable as you reach higher elevations. It doesn’t matter what time of the year, it can be extremely cold reaching temperatures near or below freezing and worsened by cold winds. August and September are the driest months creating another good season for climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. June and July are the coolest months, which means the summit can be even chillier. It is still an appropriate time to climb. If you have an option, you probably want to avoid the months of April and May which are the wettest. Although you can climb in the rain, it does make it more challenging and more uncomfortable. Even during the drier months, it is quite possible to experience an afternoon shower. These are usually shorter and move on.   When to go to see Kilimanjaro Technically you could see Mount Kilimanjaro any day of the year. However August and September are the driest months and have the best chance for clearer weather. The best time to see Mount Kilimanjaro occurs in the earlier parts of the day. The greatest chances of seeing the summit occur in the morning because as the day goes on and the temperature rises clouds tend to congregate around the peak. It is not uncommon for the summit to be buried in the clouds even on what would be considered a bright sunny day. Again, the best chance to see the summit of Kilimanjaro will occur in the earlier morning hours. Outside of that you would just have to hope for clear viewing of this wonder of...

When to go to EPCOT

EPCOT stands for the Experimental Prototype Community Of Tomorrow.  This Disney park provides two distinctive areas with the front part of the park featuring Future World, a series of rides and attractions that expose people to technological innovations. The second half of the EPCOT features World Showcase which highlights the culture and cuisine from 11 different countries around the world that include: Mexico, Norway, China, Germany, Italy, the United States, Japan, Morocco, France, United Kingdom, and Canada.   Best time to go to EPCOT After having the opportunity to explore EPCOT on multiple times during different times of the year, it is easy to recommend the best time to go. EPCOT delivers the Disney magic any time of the year and is masterful and finding something or reasons to celebrate all the time. However, there is no season more magical at Disney than the Christmas season. Christmas decorations, holiday lights, and a seasonal transformation of the Disney World parks creates one of the most incredible holiday celebrations. EPCOT transitions into the holiday celebration at the beginning of November. Although not as prevalent as Magic Kingdom nor Hollywood studies, Christmas and the holiday season arrive in the early part of November.  Even though you will have a similar experience November through mid December, the best time to go is during the first three weeks of November. The crowds are minimal, rates are lower, and you have a greater chance of better weather.   When to go to and When Not to go to EPCOT: Crowds The best time to go to EPCOT to avoid the crowds is during the month of November and first couple weeks of December, April through most of May, and the months of January and February. Each of these periods have the least number of visitors with shorter lines. This gives you and your family the best chance of experiencing more rides. (See below for reasons to not go in Jan and Feb). The high season for EPCOT  includes the months of June and July and August. These months represent the season where most Americans take their family vacations. The crowds can be extensive which makes it a challenge to try and complete a comprehensive experience of what EPCOT offers all in one day.  It is common for visitors during the busier seasons to break EPCOT up into tow days with a focus on Future World one day and then World Showcase the next.  You can still use the Fast Past to help but the number of rides that use it are limited.   When to go to and When Not to go to EPCOT: Weather When it comes to weather, the good news is that Orlando, Florida has fair weather year round. The most comfortable weather occurs during the months of April, May, and October. Although November is usually comfortable during the day it can easily be too cool at night or to cold for enjoying the water parks. However, the cool evening temperatures of November add to the magical Christmas and holiday celebrations.  The darker hours arrive earlier in November and December allowing you to experience the magic of Disney’s light celebrations. The summer months can be out right hot. This can make standing in lines uncomfortable, however Disney seeks to help with this by using fans...
